Grandmother’s Love

In the past few years, I’ve come to truly value that time when can I sit down with a cup of coffee, to read and reflect, to pray and to ponder and paradigm-shift.The open book on the table could be the Bible or one of many other thought-provoking books by such authors as Brian McLaren or Philip Yancey.

My husband Louis and I visited Israel in 1984 on a tour led by Audrey and Frank Hare. We stayed in an 800-year-old Polish nun’s convent in the Old City. Here Lou leans out of the window, looking across the city that brought for us all the ancient yet ever-new stories to life; a city where elementary school teachers carry machine guns with them when they take their students out on field trips.
